The twin beams of light of the Tribute in Light, an annual memorial to the events of September 11, 2001, shine into the night sky in New York City on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from the installation on the roof of the Battery Parking Garage on West Street above the entrance to the Battery Tunnel. The streaks of light visible inside the beams are birds flying in the lights.
